This is the gate of Istana Ratu Boko which located 3 kilometers in south of the complex of Prambanan temple, Yogyakarta. Actually this picture has already posted here, but I don’t see the rule that proscribe to repost the picture, then I reposted.. 😀
Honestly, this ordinary picture is one of my favourite photos. Yup, there is nothing special actually, but who will favorited my pictures except me? Then, why do I favorited this? I will tell you later.
First, I want to straighten that istana Ratu Boko is not a temple. It is different from Prambanan, candi Pawon, candi Ijo or other temples near there. It used to be a buddhist vihara, then around the 8th century were occupied by Rakai Panangkaran from Syailendra dynasty which known are Hindus. So, this building were controlled by two different dynasty with different religions.
This complex consist of the main gate, square/front yard, the hall, the pools, meeting room, keputren (place for princess), also two caves for meditation. It is located in 196 meters above sea level. It’s so windy and we can see the Prambanan temple and Mt. Merapi. But, the point is that I never imagine how they brought the materials and built the complex here. As you can see, the buildings were made of stones, meanwhile the place is located on top of a limestone hill. Did they helped by aliens? 😉 Well, you can find more pictures about this complex here.
The picture above is the main gate. I favorited this because the sun and grass! I always suggest people to visit there after 4 p.m. so that the sun is leaning to the west, then we can capture the gate with the sun as a backdrop. When we’re lucky, we can see the sunset there.
How about the grass?
Well, I really love photographing the grass, and I have a lot of pictures of grass. In this place, I can take the gate, the sun and also the grass. How lucky I am.. Well, eventhough I had to fight to get those three objects in one click. Uumm.. something like the picture below…
