Tamansari : The Water Castle


Tamansari is derived from two words, “taman,” means a garden and “sari,” which means either beautiful or flowers. Hence, the name Tamansari means an area of a beautiful garden adorned with various captivating plants and flowers.

Tamansari is located 500 meters in the south of the Sultan palace of Yogyakarta. The garden which is surrounded by artificial lake named Segaran with the fragrant scent of flowers which were planted surrounding the artificial island.

It was built around 1761 by the first king of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. But now, this place is filled by the human settlements and only remaining some little pool with fountains.

    1. nggah sih, cuma lorong yang nembus ke sekitar situ juga… tapi kayaknya memang masih ada terowongan2 lain yang ditutup.. enggak serumit jaman saya masih suka maen ke sana pas kecil dulu…
