The red egg is a boiled chicken egg stabbed with the bamboo stick, and its shell is colored red. The eggs are commonly sold in Sekaten fair. Sekaten is the commemoration of the prophet Muhammad’s birthday held on the 5th of the Mawlid of Hijra year. It is held in the square of Yogyakarta palace and Surakarta palace.

The Red egg is more than boiled eggs dyed red. It symbolizes a concept. The egg itself signifies the birth. Then, the red color implies welfare and the bamboo stick depicts the vertical relationship with God. The red egg as a whole means a sign of rebirth of hope for a better future under God’s guidance.

The red egg presents the precious lesson and the hope for a better future.
