In the north of Yogyakarta, there is a dense and crowded place named Condong Catur. There are some private colleges and universities, also the housing complex. Supporting facilities such as food stalls, shopping centers, and sport venues to cafes were spreaded in this area. Those all things make this area is always crowded from morning to midnight. It seems that this place never sleeps.
However, not far from the crowds, there is a convenient place, quiet and contrast to the atmosphere out there. It hidden behind the residential, there is a small lake that could be a relaxation place and refresh the mind. Actually, this is a small water dam, which is well known as Embung Tambakboyo. The river of Tambakbayan and Buntung, flow to this 8 hectares lake. Currently, the local government is doing conservation around the dam by planting some kinds of plants, such as mahogany trees, palms and cypress. The atmosphere is very beautiful, supported by the green plants surrounding the lake.
Many people often come here to do jogging, cycling, fishing or just sitting around the lake. At certain times, some athletes practice rowing and canoe here.
When the sunny day, you can see the beauty of Mount Merapi. At the dusk, I suggest you to take place on the east side of the lake, so that we can see the beautiful orange sky. Once, I did a pre-wed photography here. And the result was good… 🙂
