Evening at Bogor Botanical Garden

Bogor Botanical Garden is located in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. It extent of 87 hectares and has a collection of 15,000 species of trees and plants. Recorded in the inscription of Batutulis, the garden was an artificial park that was created in the era of Sunda kingdom in the 15th century.

In the early 1800s the Governor-General Thomas Stamford Raffles, who lived in the Bogor Palace was interested in developing the palace yard into a beautiful garden. He had a great interest in botanical science. Approximately 47 acres of land around Bogor Palace made ??the first land for the botanical gardens. A variety of seeds over Indonesia planted in this garden.

The establishment of the Bogor Botanical Gardens could be considered as the beginning of the development of science in Indonesia. Nowadays, it become a center for the development of agriculture and horticulture in Indonesia.

  1. what a wonder full places in the midle of bogor’s city. wish bandung have a place like this, that would have another name for bandung “green forest van java” πŸ™‚ not just “parist van java.
