Batu akik is a term of agate in bahasa Indonesia. There are various kinds of agate such as jasper, marble, chalcedony and feldspar. Hilly areas in Pacitan, East Java is one of the source of various types of agate mining in Indonesia. But the biggest mining in Indonesia is located in Martapura, South Kalimantan.

Precious stone craft development centers in Pacitan located in district Punung and Donorojo, about 30 kilometers west of the town. This area is set to become a tourist destination that is expected to boost the economy of the people around there.

In Pacitan, the agate commonly sold in showrooms around the workshops, but also displayed in a small shop almost in every hotel in the city. They also serve a large trader from Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali for sale to Australia, the United States and Europe.

In addition to producing accessories and jewelries, they also started to develop a variety of unique ornaments to beautify the room.
